In an e-mail announcement to all NRA members in Mississippi, the NRA gave Congressman Harper an “A rating” and endorsed Congressman Harper’s campaign encouraging its members to “vote freedom first on March 13,” the date of Mississippi’s upcoming primary election.

“As a Life Member of the NRA, I’m very honored to receive the NRA’s endorsement for my campaign,” said Congressman Gregg Harper. “The 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms is an important, fundamental right in America, and I will continue working to promote and protect law-abiding citizens’ ability to exercise this Constitutional guarantee of freedom.”

March 13 is the Republican primary election in Mississippi. For absentee voting purposes, Circuit Clerks’ offices in each county will be open until 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 10, before the election for absentee voting. Circuit Clerks can receive and count any absentee ballots they receive in the mail by 5:00 p.m. on Monday before the election.

Currently in his second term of Congress, Republican Congressman Gregg Harper serves his congressional district and his state on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where he is a member of the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy and the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade. Additionally, he was appointed by Speaker John Boehner to serve his second term on the Committee on House Administration, where he is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Elections, and is one of only ten members on Committee on Ethics. For the past two terms in Congress, his peers have elected him to represent their class on the Republican Steering Committee.

(Jackson, Miss.)—Mississippi’s Third District Congressman Gregg Harper has been endorsed by the Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA). With a unanimous vote, the Board of Directors of MMA officially endorsed Congressman Harper in his re-election campaign for 2012.

Jay Moon, the President and CEO of the MMA announced the group’s endorsement of Congressman Harper saying, “We applaud and appreciate your voting record during the 112th Congress on issues that support a strong manufacturing environment in Mississippi and the United States.”

“I am very grateful and appreciative of the endorsement from MMA because I know how committed this group is to growing Mississippi’s economy and providing good jobs for people all across our state,” Congressman Harper stated. “I will continue working closely with MMA and all other job creators to support lower taxes, less burdensome regulations and to get our economy moving again through free markets, instead of more government intrusion.”

MMA cited several issues that Congressman Harper has supported during his service in Congress including his efforts to stop new and recurring unnecessary or burdensome regulations; reducing government spending to protect our nation’s future; supporting a strong defense; working to enhance national workforce training programs to ensure our ability to produce world-class, competitive products in a global economy; and reducing or limiting any job-killing tax or fee proposals that would limit growth.
